Default Ben Sneesby's new mic's

i ask Ben to come in and chat a bit about some of his new microphones as well as any other services he offers.
he recently made some comparison samples, and i ask him to share those with us here at the lunchbox-hero site.

i do want to add before we start.
these type of shoot out's ( IMHO ), should be vied ( heard ), with the understanding, many variables effect what you hear.
so, i personally would recommend, that you always try any peace of gear you plan to purchase, see that it fits your needs and expiations.

many of us are not always in a position to do this, so these type of comparison files, become our only clue, in regards to helping make our choices, or at least narrow the field.

with that, they become a valuable asset, a tool, they may assist an engineer looking for his next purchase, helping him or her, find just what they need for gear.
in this case wicked cool microphones!

so Ben please let us hear those files!

Hi Guys,

My name is Ben Sneesby, I am an Australian microphone manufacturer located in the beautiful Border Ranges Region of New South Wales.

I gues you could call me a boutique manufacturer as i am a 1 man show producing on average 3-4 mics per week.

I hand drill, mill and Lap each capsule as well as point to point circuits and use Cinemag Transformers.

In my studio series, i use OEM Bodies and power supply enclosures to help keep the costs down.

I also offer a repair service including capsule replacement and rediaphragming as well as all other electrical issues that mics tend to face.

here are some files for you to here. There are 7 mics, they are U47, M49b, U47 Kit built mic form mixed parts, BeesNeez Arabella with Neumann 40 year old K47 Capsule, BeesNeez Arabella, BeesNeez James and BeesNeez Jade.

Take a listen to the files, see if you can name the mic order. If not, just choose your favourite. For those of you that heard this elswhere, i may have changed the order so you will have to try again.

i'll post once someone tells me how to or even if i can attach a wav file here.

cheers.

ben sneesby

Ben those are lovely, very nice work... and thanks for posting, and welcome to LBH!

I will give a listen to the audio files in a day or two when I have some real speakers in front of me.

Hi everyone, just wanted to touch base with you all again. When i spoke to you all 16mths ago i stated that i was a 1 man show and i thought that you would be interested in an update.

We now have a "studio series" of microphones, that still use the hand made capsule, power supply and mic ciruit, however the body is an OEM.

Then we have our flag ship line the "producer series", which is all Australian made and manufactured right here in our factory.

Beesneez has now grown to be a much bigger operation with 7 employees and we are manufacturing a large number of microphones on a weekly basis. We have also recently installed 2 CNC machines that are responsible for the manufacture of our microphone bodies and capsules.

You may also be interested in a review that was done recently of our microphone capsule, by Klaus Heyne http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/ind.../31438/0/16/0/

Cheers

Yeah man, I've been following your business for a while but have yet to hear any of the microphones! I finally caved and ordered a pair of the Lulu Fet kits (thanks for offering kits btw!) last week. Extremely excited to put them up against a pair of KM84s at Strange Weather and see how they handle. I'll let you know how the results turn out
