sorry, didn't know posting links to other forums is not allowed here.
since I don't want to post or link photos I didn't made myself the information in text form:
my partner Sahib has the first prototype of the metal work done, looking very promising.

we are doing calculations the whole weekend and will be back with the final price soon ...
I think it is safe to say it will be below USD 350 for a complete KIT (without PSU).
development will go on to the SubD version, 12 Slot version, integrated PSU versions.
this is not a one off project / GroupBuy.

to tease again - everything just fits perfect (this is the 15pin version):

Sahib found a 9 way plug for the PSU connection which should fit just in the Neutrik hole, whith this there is no need to do a second one. the picture shows it the wrong way around, but you get the idea:

I think we will start ordering all the parts next week.
stay tuned ;D

Default street price finalized

Hey all,

I just wanted to update this thread as we have reached and finalized street pricing.

The first product that will be ready is the GroupDIY 11 space rack. A kit will street for $300.00 plus applicable shipping.

There will be 3 places to purchase the racks. I will be handling the North American orders thru my store, www.classicapi.com.

[silent:arts] is finishing his online store and is based in Germany.

Cemal, our metalwork colleague, will handle sales from Glasgow, UK.

We are looking at approximately 8 weeks from now (mid September) as all of the connectors are special order. Material orders have been placed so the clock has begun to tick

The kit will include:
**Professionally made and powder coated 19" rack mount enclosure with all appropriate fasteners and hardware to assemble. Unit will hold (11) 500 series modules.

**Custom and beautiful, professionally made 3mm thick PCB backplane.

**(11) 18 pin card edge connectors. We will be using the 18 pin universally. A small piece of PCB for a spacer is all that is needed to ensure proper seating of a standard 15-pin 500 series module.

**(11) Neutrik female XLR's.

**(11) Neutrik male XLR's. As you can see, the XLR's are PCB mount and are also secured to the back of the enclosure with 2 screws each. These are not cheap shit plastic. These are very nice and special order.

The end user will have to supply the power connector of choice and power supply of choice as well. My colleagues have both +/-16V and +/-24V supply PCB's and enclosures in the works.

Cheers, Jeff

if you want to buy one:
70 pieces of the first 100 run is already reserved.

we take reservations serious, if you want to have one reserved just post it in this thread. you can always jump out, but it looks like all 100 units will be reserved before they are in

we always have this lead time of 8 weeks ...

yes, the 51x Racks are on their way.

right now we have
- card edge connectors for 100 racks
- 100 backplane PCBs
- 50 PSU PCBs (will order more soon)
- Neutrik XLR connectors for 50 racks (will order more soon)
- metal work for 100 racks is in production and should arrive soon

our main problem: we more than 100 pre orders

I will talk to Jeff, if someone in the states jumps out the order list he will reserve that one to you.
